About Boo Friends Group

Booyeembara Friends Group have over 100 members who actively participate in caring for the park and creating elements like the amphitheatre and planting and watering in the Stage 2 bushland.

Since the discovery of asbestos rising up through the soil, we’ve had a quiet few years as an investigation was undertaken and detailed management plan written to manage this hazardous waste. This was completed in 2014 and now we look forward to ways to re-engage with the Park.

The objectives of the Friends group are to :

Facilitate community participation in implementation and care of the park
Build community through social and cultural events in the Park, and
Engage with and lobby Council on Park implementation and management, including through representation on the Booyeembara Taskforce.

acknowledgement to country

10 Nights in Port and the City of Fremantle are grateful to the Whadjuk Noongar people on whose Country our festival takes place. We extend our deepest respect to their elders; past, present and emerging. We wish to acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of this city and this region.
