The Joys of the Women – Le gioie delle donne
An unmissable performance from Kavisha Mazzella and The Joys of the Women Italian Choir at Luna on SX celebrating the 30th anniversary of the documentary film The Joys of the Women – Le Gioie Delle Donne; the unique and uplifting story of the Fremantle Italian Women’s Choir.
The Joys of the Women Italian Choir have been sharing their voices and love of Italian music and songs for over 33 years – they aim to keep alive the Italian culture of traditional folk songs and encourage connections between generations.
The Joys of the Women Italian choir is currently led by Chris Hassell and is coordinated by Silvana Wiley.
The documentary explores the members’ rich stories and the passion of its original musical director and ARIA award-winning singer/songwriter, Kavisha Mazzella.
Screening across 2 nights at Luna on SX, the film will be followed by performance from Kavisha and The Joys of the Women Choir and a Q&A with Kavisha and acclaimed filmmakers Franco Di Chiera & Andrew Ogilvie – hosted by Dr Annamaria Paolino of the Ascolta Italian women’s collective.
