Opening Night

Opening Night: 10 Nights in Port, Nullians by Kambarni and In Our Hands, We Hold

Gather as the festival begins with an evening of food, fire and celebration in the beautiful grounds of Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre.

The opening night features two compelling exhibitions. Nullians by Australian First Nations artist Kambarni presents a bold series of political cartoons that trace Australia’s history, challenge its narratives and invite reflection with wit, honesty and strength.

Opening alongside it, In Our Hands, We Hold celebrates the work of First Nations women artists whose practices are deeply connected to Country, culture and ancestral knowledge. Centring weaving as both an artform and a living practice, the exhibition honours the stories, skills and relationships carried through generations.
